If You Are Not as Excited About ‘Cash for Clunkers’ as You Were When it First Started – You Need to Adjust Your Thinking

A few Dealers and General Managers have grumbled in the last few days about the program and some have even said they feel like it is wearing out in the mind of the consumer. I think you are 100% wrong and if you want to see stores that are still getting 100 phone calls a day, then I invite you to visit some of my dealerships that are listening, spending more money to promote than they have in 12 months and selling well into the double digits on days like Tuesdays. It’s been a long time since multiple dealers were getting to 20 units on Tuesdays, but a handful are right now because they are getting everything they can out of the program.

Refocus your attention – if your paperwork on your clunkers and process is in line – you should be fine with the government. Focus on selling units and building more relationships with customers and making them your customer before they become someone else’s.
