Cash For Clunkers Causes Dealer Concerns

4 Days into the Cash for Clunkers Mission – many dealers are experience trouble in getting paperwork processed through the cars.gov website. So far very few people have tried to submit all their deals, but feedback has been the response is slow and tedious. A few items that people have mentioned to me in the last two days that could help:

  1. Try After Hours – Late at Night – yeah, after midnight – to be exact. Rumor is that the site has too much traffic during the daytime and that keeps causing it to crash.
  2. Submit Fast – the site continues to “time out” or “expire” when people take too long in the submission process. Be sure and have all paperwork prepared, ready to only keypunch info and submit to keep the site from kicking you out.
  3. Techno Geeks – use your strengths within the walls of your dealership to help with this. Some dealers have sales managers, finance managers or executive assistants trying to enter this info… Why? Because you trust them and they do their jobs right. The only problem is, that it is about like me playing basketball, I can do it – but there are about 15 other sports that I can play better. Get an IT or Tech experienced person to submit this info. Don’t place the responsibility with the wrong person or they will have trouble.
