After the buffet of football bowl games and now heading into the pro playoffs, I heard game announcers say more than once, “Can you believe it? They ran the same play twice!” Usually, the play gained big yards and resulted in a touchdown.
As you look for opportunities in 2015 for sale events or timely promotions, look back at previous years with an eye for GPS – Gross Profit Successes! For example, we are seeing more dealers build promotions around Presidents’ Day, both as a weekend event and some all month long. Even more interesting, some dealers are promoting huge giveaways to entice shoppers. Why? Because the market has recovered from holiday spending, they are ready to get out of vehicles that aren’t going to make it another year, and they have cabin fever.
Check out your past GPS, and see how the dates line up in 2015:
- Memorial Day should be a monster
- May is a 5 Saturday month
- July 4th could be iffy falling on a Saturday
- August could be awesome with 5 Saturdays (Make the best of August because Labor Day is late this year.)
